The practice of polygamy is strictly prohibited in Western countries

Now, that is not to say that women have never been unjustly discriminated against in the West. Nowadays there are many principles that are enshrined in Western law to protect the rights of women. Domestic violence against wives in the West is strictly prohibited, though unfortunately it is still practiced by some husbands.
