His passage through Mills County was unheralded

Ezra was a native of Butler County, Ohio, who moved as a boy with his family to a rural area near Indianapolis. But then there wasn't much to remember. Chariton didn't take off until 1853, when the federal land office moved here from Fairfield. He is a man 76 years old next December.
