There were no wicked step-relatives, glass/fur slippers or princes. Cinderella was a lowly and dishevelled servant who was kind to a vagabond who gave her their gnarled staff. Whe she did, the boulders break open and reveal treasures inside. Really, the most of the story was spent on describing what she got out of each rock.
