As it turns out, that was wrong. And I got The Hammer to sign up for it too. But the fact is, I actually finished second. So I stopped, drank a Coke, and waited for The Hammer. Also, I had signed up to race, to get my mojo back. Which meant that all the meaningful climbing was behind me.
